Steve has been fishing the waters of southeastern Connecticut for over sixty years. Steve spent some time in the 70's and 80's fishing commercially for striped bass and giant tuna and in that
time took numerous bass over fifty pounds. He acquired a USCG Master License and started guiding flyfishers in 1992. He resides in Mystic, CT with his wife, Wendy and his daughter,
Lauren.
Transportation with style! Steve guides out of a vintage 1973 twenty-three SeaCraft powered by a Mercury 4 stroke outboard motor, the Lauren B. The multi-stepped hull of a SeaCraft is
designed to smoothly penetrate the sometimes choppy waters of Fishers Island Sound, as well as the open ocean. The Lauren B rides more comfortably than any other boat in its size class, is
customized for fly fishing and is equipped with the latest electronics.
“Burnett is one of the really classy guides - a fine angler, a safe boat handler and his conduct on the water is an excellent example of fishing etiquette.” - Lou Tabory – Ridgefield, CT
"After many years of fishing and many fine days on the water, I can truly say that Steve Burnett is the one of the finest saltwater fly fishing guides I have had the privilege of knowing. His
understanding of the natural cycles and fish behavior of the Watch Hill and Fishers Island region is unsurpassed. He has consistently put me on trophy stripers, bluefish, tuna and false
albacore." – Richard Epling – New York, NY
"Burnett is a consummate professional who never tires from finding fish for his clients." – Iain Sorrell – Avon, CT
"Every year, I mark at least two days off the calendar to fish with Steve. We've had so many adventures over the years...from chasing the first bonito of the season to the last push of bass and
albies. While the fish are different every year, Steve is a constant. The days out with him are always filled with laughs and great stories." - Chris Ryan - Dorchester, MA
“It’s tough for me to leave Bassachusetts, but a call from Steve is all it takes. Not just for the fantastic fishing opportunities his area offers either - he’s the kind of guide that makes
slow fishing fun. - Dave Skok – Winthrop, MA
